a letter from the maker

Meet the Maker

I grew up watching my grandma repurpose everything. Curtain rods from broomsticks. Coasters from leftover tile. A Christmas wreath from whatever was growing in the yard. She never once said the word "DIY" — it was just how she made a house feel like home.

I used to work in marketing, staring at a screen under fluorescent lights, watching real life happen through a window. Then I bought a 1920s bungalow in Charleston that needed everything, and I couldn't afford to hire any of it out. So I learned. I ruined dressers. I over-sanded floors. I cried about grout. And somewhere along the way, I fell for it.

DIY Queen is where I document the projects that actually work, the ones that blow up in my face, and everything I wish someone had told me before I started. No sponsored slop. No gatekeeping. Just receipts, real mistakes, and a belief that you can make your own beautiful home without a decorator's budget.
